Breakwater Beach

Breakwater Beach

Brixham harbour and its famous long breakwater is home to  "Breakwater Beach". This beacvh is well recognised as being one of the cleanest beaches in Torbay.

As a Blue Flag beach, but it has a "Quality Coast Award" and is also recommended by the Good Beach Guide. There are parking facilities next to tbeach and a multi-stroy for overflow on the road above. There is also disabled access with adjoining parking facilities.

Breakwater Beach is a particular favourite for canoeists, fishermen and scuba divers and snorkelers. The inshore waters abound with sealife, with mullet, wrasse, bass, small pollack and further out up the breakwater, conger eels (harmless!). There is a lot of seagrass, rocky shoreline to the west shore and even the odd small wreck.

There is also a great cafe right on the beach, which says it is open 365 days per year. Lots fo food, ices, coffees and great views from this traditional beach cafe.

Easy - Access is from the main road to Berry Head, and also by an easy level walk around the harbour side from the town centre. There are disabled ramps to the promenade and beach.

Banned during summer season (May - Sept).

This is the local beach webcam below:

Canoeists just around the coast from the beach.

Or relax in the gardens above the beach!
